Ban on microbeads in Taiwan

The Taiwan Environmental Protection Administration announced a ban on all cosmetic products
containing microbeads. The ban, which follows similar bans in the US and the UK, is likely to come
into force on 1 July 2018, according to Taiwan News of August 4, 2017. The ban recognizes that
plastic microbeads are a serious threat to both marine and human life. Producers as well as retailers
will be fined if a prohibited product is found.
