Ten years of struggle and debate, there will be a European ban on intentionally added microplastics. Member states have welcomed a proposal to this effect from REACH. That these microplastics pose a risk to the environment has now been definitively established. The proposal mainly concerns microplastics in personal care products.

OPT FOR ZERO PLASTICS INSIDE
The Industry is still given a long transition period to adapt their products. A growing number of companies, the Beauty Angels, are showing that plastic-free cosmetics and personal care products are already possible. These companies carry the “Zero Plastics Inside” certificate introduced by Plastic Soup Foundation. The condition for carrying the certificate, in short, is the declaration that none of their products contain microplastics. None of the large multinational companies, such as Unilever, L’Orรฉal or Procter & Gamble, have ever been willing to declare this.
